Kaashmora Review (2016)
Starcast: Karthi, Nayanthara, Sridivya, Vivekh
Kaashmora classifies itself into a horror entertainer with a portion of period drama that finds its connection in the end. Karthi plays the title character, Kaashmora, who along with his family dupes people into believing that he is an exorcist. How this life of Kaashmora connects with an old historical story of the past forms the film’s story.
Karthi effortlessly slips into his roles and delivers a good performance with strong screen presence.
Vivekh’s comedy and perfect timing provides the comic relief and makes the first half of the film a fun ride.
Santhosh Narayanan has composed a background score different from his usual style. It helps amplify the impact of the scenes.
Nayanthara and Sridivya looks gorgeous and done their parts well but they have limited screentime.
The art department and VFX team deserve special mention for some impressive sets, art and VFX.
The songs are a let down and are force-fit into the film.
The climax of the film could have been stronger and more impactful.
Kaashmora makes a good entertainer with horror and humour elements. Perfect for the festive season!
